Diabetes and NHL   Leave a comment

There are about 17 different studies reporting a link between diabetes and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s estimated that the risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for persons suffering from diabetes is 19% higher than control groups without diabetes. Since research indicates an increase in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 1950, it may be that the increasing incidence of diabetes may help to explain some of the increase in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Although the increased relative risk associated with diabetes for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is not particularly high, the fact that more and more people are being diagnosed with diabetes may mean that non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma will become a more common medical problem.
