Port Aransas residents beware. According to this Corups Christi Caller-Times article, dangerous levels of mercury have been detected in oversized redfish located in the surf near Port Aransas.

Four of five bull reds had levels of the poisonous metal that the Texas Department of Health Services would deem unacceptable. And a single oversized redfish from Corpus Christi Bay was found to have PCBs 50 times higher than the health department recommends for safe consumption.
